End of the week.....

Interesting discussion on TSW, as usual. When today's kids do bad things is it the fault of poor parenting? I said not always. I think part of it is the general smutting down of society,the self-absorption of society, the lack of really heroic role models in our society...please, baseball players are not heroes and neither are Hollywood stars, no matter how "internationally minded" they pretend to be. The policemen and firemen of 9/11 are/were heroes, the passengers of flight 93 were heroes, the men and women fighting or just serving in our military are heroes (as are their families). These tinfoil hat stars are what we used to know as showbiz idols not heroes and even then, they are not idols such as Katherine Hepburn, Gary Cooper, John Wayne, Patricia Neal, etc. Struggling to see who can produce the edgiest performance seems to equal struggling to reach the lowest tiers. There seems to be no love of pure beauty...beauty in art, beauty in body, beauty in spirit, beauty in the love of Country....I despair...
