Religious Right

What the heck is the "Religious Right?" I am Catholic and go to Mass regularly and I tend to come down on the right side of most political issues. Does this mean I am part of the vicious, religious right trying to take over our country and set up a theocracy? According to the MSM, I guess it does. Rosie O'Donnell says then, that I am the equal of a Jihadist. Is something wrong with the logic here? If I say that I am pro-life and anti-gay marriage then I must be a right wing terrorist. I am not anti-gay and don't bomb abortion clinics (nor do I support those acts) but these nuances are apparently not recognized. Aren't there any non-group-think liberals anymore?
